Our teams accompany patients and their relatives through the whole process: from the first advice through the booking, during the transport from bed to bed, to settling the claim with the health insurer. Frequently asked questions

Does health insurance cover patient transport?

MoPi.ch is recognised by all Swiss health insurers and has tariff agreements with them. Medically necessary transports can be claimed from the insurer under the Swiss Health Insurance Act and the relevant cover. How much is reimbursed depends on your policy — we accompany you from booking to the claim.

What does patient transport cost?

Base rates start at CHF 95.- for a wheelchair or seated transport without accompaniment. A stretcher transport with medical supervision and monitoring starts at CHF 340.-. Added to that are CHF 4.- per kilometre and CHF 1.50 per minute of care. Billing is to the exact kilometre and minute, and only for the time spent with the patient.

Is MoPi.ch an emergency service?

No. MoPi.ch transports medically stable patients and is neither an emergency nor a rescue service. In an emergency, call 144. Rescue and emergency transports are handled within the same group by Rettungsdienste Nordwestschweiz AG, which is connected to the emergency number 144.

How quickly is a transport available?

We are reachable around the clock, 365 days a year. Transports that are to take place on the same day must be booked by telephone: 0800 144 365. For planned transports the form on the contact page is enough.

What types of transport are there?

Lying with medical supervision from bed to bed, in a certified comfort wheelchair or in the patient’s own chair, seated with support from trained staff, and accompanied with specialist care — for instance with dementia or a psychiatric diagnosis. Alongside these runs school transport for children and young people with special needs, a business line in its own right.

Which area does MoPi.ch cover?

MoPi.ch operates across Switzerland, with its head office in Windisch and branches in Schübelbach, Zurich and Bern. We also carry out international repatriations from European countries.

Does MoPi.ch also run school transport?

Yes. For more than twenty years a dedicated department of MoPi.ch has carried children and young people with intellectual or physical disabilities to school — in the Zurich, Central Switzerland and Biel regions, with crash-tested safety systems and one-to-one accompaniment where needed. Enquiries go to +41 44 781 49 49 or schultransport@mopi.ch.
